RETINOSCOPE
A retinoscope is a handheld diagnostic device used by optometrists and ophthalmologists to objectively assess a patient’s refractive error. It works by shining a beam of light into the eye and observing the movement of the reflected light (reflex) from the retina. This is essential in prescribing corrective lenses, especially for non-verbal patients or children.
